Tour de France > Stage at Montluçon
Roanne > Montluçon
19th Stage of the Tour de France - Roanne > Montluçon > 163 km
After a passage in the Pyrenees and the Alpes, the riders will be back in the Auvergne.
In the Allier, the sprinters will be smiling again and their legs will be ready for this stage taking roads which are far more on the straight and level.
The Tour route – off the beaten track
Entry gate to the Auvergne, Montluçon has kept its identity as a medieval city with its narrow cobblestone streets where you can discover: fountains, half-timbered houses with finely-worked stone, and around 15 buildings which are classified or listed as historical monuments. Montluçon also showcases its prestigious past – try a little detour to visit the magnificent château of the dukes of Bourbon. It's a must!
As far as local delicacies are concerned, many quality products can be appreciated: Chambérat cheese, Charroux mustard, "Pompe Aux Grattons" (A lardon cake) or potato pâté, watered down with a Saint-Pourçain win (drink with moderation).
